Wimborne Model Town & Gardens Celebrates Wimborne Town of Culture 2026
Wimborne has been named Dorset Town of Culture 2026, and we are delighted to be part of a year celebrating creativity, culture, heritage and community activity across the town.
Here at Wimborne Model Town & Gardens, we have always been proud to celebrate the history and character of Wimborne Minster in miniature. From our detailed model buildings and gardens to our links with local people, volunteers and visitors, we are very pleased to be supporting this special year for the town.
Our Town of Culture Mural
As part of the celebrations, we currently have the official Wimborne Town of Culture mural on loan to us at Wimborne Model Town. Children visiting the Model Town during this time can enjoy seeing the mural up close as part of their visit.
It is a lovely way to introduce younger visitors to Wimborne’s Town of Culture year and encourage them to feel part of the celebrations taking place across the town. The mural will be with us for three weeks, so do look out for it when you visit.
Join Us at Wimborne Unlocked
We will also be taking part in Wimborne Unlocked on Wednesday 19th August, hosted at the Family Hub, Leigh Road, from 10am to 2pm. Wimborne Model Town & Gardens will be there with a model making stall, giving families and children the chance to get creative and enjoy a hands-on activity inspired by the Model Town.
It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the imagination, detail and craft that goes into model making, while being part of a wider community event for Wimborne Town of Culture.
Celebrating Wimborne in Miniature
Wimborne Model Town & Gardens has been part of the local community for generations, helping visitors of all ages discover the town’s heritage in a fun and memorable way. Being involved in Wimborne Town of Culture 2026 feels especially fitting, as the Model Town brings together so many of the things being celebrated this year: local history, creativity, community spirit, volunteering and a love for Wimborne.
We look forward to welcoming visitors throughout the summer and sharing in this very special year for the town.
